Dr. Echt graduated from Indiana University Medical
School in 1957. He interned at Cook County Hospital in 1958 and
then began his Obstetric-Gynecology residency in 1958 at the Indiana
University Medical Center. He then practiced OB-Gyn in the U.S.
Air Force (Casablanca, Morocco) from 1959 - 1961. He finished
his residency in 1964 and then did a fellowship in Gyn-Endocrinology
at Michael Reese Hospital (Chicago, Illinois). He then was an
Assistant Professor of Ob-Gyn at Indiana University from 1964
until 1970.
In 1970, he started a private practice and he
now limits his practice to Gynecology (office and surgical). He
has a special interest in laparoscopic surgery and menopause.
He has been happily married to Myra for 47 years.
Their two oldest children are physicians (Gregory is a radiation
oncologist and Audrey is a dermatologist). Jeffrey is an attorney.
All of their children live outside of Indianapolis and much time
is spent visiting their families and five grandchildren ( 4 boys
and 1 girl). They both enjoy traveling, art and golf.
