FAQ - Urinary Tract Infections

What are symptoms of a Urinary Tract Infection (UTI)?

  1. Urinating often (urinary frequency)
  2. Burning or pain with urination
  3. Back pain (low across the back)

What should I do if I have these symptoms?

  1. Call the office to see a physician or nurse practitioner
  2. A urine test must be performed to determine if this is a urinary tract infection or a vaginal infection
  3. You may seek care at an Emergency Clinic or Emergency Room (ER)

NOTE: You may purchase an over the counter medication, Uristat, that will decrease the severity of your symptoms, while waiting to see a physician or nurse practitioner. This medication will only treat the painful symptoms, not the infection. An antibiotic must be prescribed to eliminate the cause of the urinary tract infection
